What Are Immigration Psychological Evaluations?

Immigration psychological evaluations are professional assessments conducted by a licensed therapist to assess individuals' mental and emotional well-being in immigration cases. These evaluations support immigration petitions, waivers, or relief requests. The purpose of these evaluations is to document the psychological impact of specific circumstances, such as trauma, abuse, or hardship, and how these factors affect an individual’s ability to remain in the U.S. or their eligibility for immigration relief.

Victims of Human Trafficking
(T Visa)
These evaluations focus on the psychological impact of trafficking experiences, including trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and emotional distress caused by exploitation. This helps demonstrate the individual’s need for protection under U.S. law.
Asylum Claims
Psychological evaluations are crucial for individuals seeking asylum who have experienced persecution or fear of future persecution. These evaluations assess the mental health consequences of the trauma, such as anxiety, depression, or PTSD, helping to validate the asylum claim.
Cancellation of Removal and Extreme Hardship Waivers
Psychological evaluations are used to demonstrate the emotional and psychological hardship that would result from an individual’s deportation. These assessments help to illustrate how the removal would negatively affect the mental health of U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident family members, particularly spouses and children.
Victims of Crime
(U Visa)
A U Visa is available to individuals who have been victims of certain crimes in the United States and have suffered substantial physical or mental abuse. An immigration psychological evaluation plays a crucial role in these cases by documenting the emotional and psychological impact of the crime
Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)
These evaluations assist applicants who have experienced abuse by a U.S. citizen or permanent resident spouse or parent. The evaluations document the emotional and psychological damage caused by the abuse, which is necessary for proving the case for immigration relief under VAWA.
Extreme Hardship Cases
For individuals seeking waivers based on extreme hardship to a U.S. citizen spouse or parent, the evaluation highlights the emotional, psychological, and familial distress caused by separation. It helps show how the hardship would adversely affect the well-being of family members.
What We Offer
1
How Are Immigration Psychological Evaluations Conducted?
The evaluation typically involves completing 2 separate structured interviews where the psychologist gathers information about your personal history, any traumatic events you’ve experienced, and the psychological impact of these events. The therapist may also use standardized tests and questionnaires to assess your mental health.
2
What Happens After the Assessments?
Following the interview and assessment, the psychologist will compile a detailed report summarizing their findings. This 10-15 page report will include information on the individual’s mental health, any diagnosed conditions, and how the psychological issues are related to the immigration matter at hand. These evaluations are designed to provide valuable evidence that can make a significant difference in the outcome of your case. They help demonstrate the emotional and mental toll that immigration-related stress, trauma, or hardship has on individuals and their families.
3
Are language services or payment plans offered?
Yes and yes! Translation Service resources are available upon request. We believe that everyone should have access to high-quality psychological evaluations and support throughout their immigration process. To make our services as accessible as possible, we offer a payment plan tailored to your needs.
