FAQs
"Bloom where you are planted"
How long is therapy? When will I be done? Since everyone receives individualized care at Regal Garden Counseling, exact time frames for meeting treatment goals cannot be provided. Change and Growth is an ongoing life process and therapy is always a support available as you need, however, the purpose of therapy is to discover new tools to manage your current challenges. I tend to follow a 3-phase model of therapy to include Safety and stabilization, Processing, and Building/reconnection which results in resolution and recovery (termination of treatment). This could take anywhere from a few months to years depending on your needs. I will encourage and support your movement through each phase along with your feedback.
Can I book online? Yes, you can request a phone consultation or new client intake assessment online by clicking on the “Request Appointment” button on home page. Your request will not guarantee the time you want, however, but I will contact you prior to our meeting so we can coordinate accordingly.
How does Telehealth Work ? Simple Practice is the HIPAA-compliant platform I use for telehealth services, and our meetings will be face-to-face video sessions from anywhere you are in Arizona. Once you become a client, you will have access to the client portal where we can share your treatment documents and consents, as well as scheduling and payment. Telehealth offers increased access to care and more flexibility for your schedule. As with anything, there are benefits and challenges to telehealth and I will let you know when it is not beneficial or appropriate for this platform as well as encourage you to explore your level of comfort with it as well. Once we begin together, I will send you some tips on maximizing our telehealth experience together.
I've never been in therapy before, how does it work? The first step will be to review your informed consent documents explaining what to expect with my practice, policies and procedures, legal information, and therapy treatment risks and benefits. We will then complete an intake assessment, so I can explore with you your current challenges, symptoms, and past history that is impacting your quality of life. With that information, we will identify treatment goals to work on together that will help you have more control of your physiological responses and life. Therapy only works as much as you are able to invest in learning more about yourself and making changes consistent with your goals. You may feel very uncomfortable at times as you let go of old protective behaviors and grow into whom you choose to become. Therapy is not just talking to a provider about your problems but exploring different self-regulation tools, therapeutic techniques, homework, follow-up, reprocessing of unhelpful thought patterns, and engaging in new lifestyle changes. Typically, most clients are seen weekly or biweekly to get the most out of their experience.
